September 14&15, 2008

Imagine an entire week focused on music, peace, and transformation. Such is the nature of New Thought Music Week, a celebration co-sponsored each year by Itoi Ministries and the Association of Unity Churches International.

The Week grew from a conference called Sound Connections, sponsored by the Association of Unity Churches International and launched in 2005 for Unity music directors and ministers. Today New Thought Music Week has expanded to include the original conference components as well as concerts, workshops, discussions and performances aimed at a wider audience. Attendees now include not only New Thought music directors and ministers, but also nationally touring artists, their fans and a variety of other industry professionals.

NTMW offers something for everyone in New Thought music, including:

The annual Posi Awards honoring the best New Thought songs and songwriters of the year;

Workshops on music promotion, performance, songwriting, booking, etc. offered by some of the most accomplished independent artists in the country.

Hugely popular late-night “Pajama Jam” music showcases, where fans and musicians meander from one hotel room to the next to listen to and sing with their favorite artists.

“Spirit Sharing” sessions, where songwriters and artists can perform their original music in front of attendees

An interfaith peace worship service

Two concerts: The annual Mega-PosiPalooza concert and the Keynote concert, with two special guest artists

Songwriting sessions for “Songs of Love,” where participants can write a custom song for a child experiencing traumatic or life-threatening illness.

Discovering up-and-coming New Thought artists

Networking, Networking, Networking! for work and for friendship

The week provides all of the elements for a transformational experience for artists, fans, singers, songwriters, music directors and music industry entrepreneurs.

Posi Awards

The Posi (Positive) Awards, introduced in 2005, honor the songwriters and artists who are spreading the uniting message of New Thought through music. Each year, the winners of the Posi Awards are announced at a gala awards ceremony featuring the powerful music and extraordinary artists who are transforming lives and helping to achieve peace on our planet.

Now in its fourth year, the Posi Awards accepts submissions in five categories.

Past categories have included

Inspirational

Personal Transformation

Most Uniting

Group Chant

Spiritual Social Action

Additionally, a special award is given each year for “Outstanding Contribution to New Thought Music.”

The Posi’s have grown from relatively few submissions in 2005 to about 500 songs submitted in 2007, indicating that the Posi Awards have quickly gained national attention.

All Posi Awards are “people’s choice” awards, meaning the winners are selected through the popular vote of people who hear the nominated songs. All of the nominated songs are featured on the Itoi New Thought Songwriters Tribute CD each year. Fans of New Thought music can vote for their favorite songs in any and all of the categories.

Itoi accepts submissions for the coming year’s competition from mid-October through mid-January. In February, a nominating committee of music industry representatives begins reviewing all of the submissions to select three to five nominees in each category. Public voting for the top song in each category is conducted from June through August.

The Posi Awards ceremony is held in Kansas City, Missouri, in September, and features all of the year’s nominees performing their nominated songs. The ceremony also kicks off New Thought Music Week, during which New Thought music songwriters, artists and music directors come together for concerts, workshops, music exchanges and more. Many events are open to the public, so fans can enjoy uplifting, inspiring and memorable musical gatherings.

In a world hungry for transformational music, the Posi Awards are opening the way for more and more people to discover and enjoy independent music that matters.

Posipalooza

PosiPalooza is I-to-i Ministries’ national concert tour. Each concert features 4-6 great artists from the I-to-i roster sharing the stage together.

PosiPalooza concerts typically follow a round-robin format, with the artists taking turns, and often accompanying one another.

The list of artists available for the Posi Palooza concerts is stunning. Our nominees are some of the best songwriters and performers in the country. Many have written top 10 hits (even a few number ones) and been nominated for prestigious awards including Grammys and Emmys.

Hosting a PosiPalooza concert is a great way to:

Empower your music ministry

Present the New Thought message to your congregation in a way they will never forget.

Lift spirits and transform hearts

Draw new people to your church as a community outreach.

Raise money for special church projects, or community charities.

Successful PosiPalooza! Concerts have the following things in common:

An enthusiastic music director or contact person.

An in-house music ministry with a choir or ensemble

A Minister who appreciates great New Thought music

A sanctuary that holds at least 250 people

A good sound system with video display and a capable tech crew

Willingness to promote the event

A congregation that appreciates and honors New Thought Music

Close proximity to other Unity, New Thought and Unitarian churches.

The ability to produce color printing

About

Who We Are

At the forefront of a new music industry promoting and supporting what is known as New Thought or Transformational Music is the young upstart, non-profit company called “I-to-i Ministries” (pronounced eye-to-eye) and its subsidiary, I-to-i Music.

I-to-i sponsors the yearly Posi Awards and the popular PosiPalooza! Concert tour and is creating an industry for a brand of music unknown to the mainstream, much the same way the Gospel Music Association (GMA) helped create a huge industry for it’s Christian artists and message more than 50 years ago.

I-to-i promotes music with a universal message of peace, unity and personal and global transformation.

I-to-i Ministries is a 501©(3) not-for-profit corporation founded in 2002 by Richard Mekdeci and Kathy Gee. I-to-i has quickly become the leading promoter for a fledgling music industry called New Thought Music.

New Thought Music is message driven and crosses over all genres of music. From pop to rock, bluegrass and folk to country, r&b to jazz, and everything in between. New Thought Music has grown in just a few short years from a handful of artists to a growing group now numbering in the hundreds.

Mission Statement

Transforming lives and promoting peace through music with a uniting spiritual message.

Vision Statement

We visualize a world in peaceful cohabitation as children of one loving God, and as members of one human race, where every individual is treated with equality, every belief is honored, and violence is never an option.
